Well, somebody has got to get these comments going! So I am honored to be the first, or one of the firsts...

Sye and Alex, you guys are leaving town in a blaze of glory, with great parties and great stories. Thank you. And as a parting gift, here are some reminders of some little extras that might come in handy on your trek. Just let me know and I'll help you rent a truck to carry them to the trailhead:

1. Extra double-hulled steel tent poles and a bolt or two of canvas (for tent repair);
2. #10 size can of Hormel's chili con carne (what's camping without beans?);
3. Sears Craftsman socket wrench kit (because my father taught me to take extra tools, everywhere);
4. 60 meter 11.5 mm climbing rope (this should be obvious);
5. Harness, full rack of trad gear (you'll be close to Yosemite's big walls - why not?);
6. Collapsible bicycles (for those 25+ mile days);
7. Inflatable raft (in case of floods);
8. Watermelon (because watermelon is good);
9. Hatchet (there's that book about how useful a hatchet can be in the wilderness); and finally,
10. Hairdryers and towels, for all that lake-jumping.

We love you guys.
